Heart of the Great Lakes

We may be in northern Ontario but we are close enough to everything.

Do you enjoy professional sports?

Sault Ste. Marie and the Algoma region is situated at the heart of the great lakes and within a day’s drive of professional sports in Toronto, Detroit and Green Bay.

“I moved to Algoma following the rumors of its beautiful outdoor adventures; after finding more than I imagined, now it feels natural to call Sault Ste. Marie home. I have worked at APH since my move and the organization has always been supportive with maintaining a healthy lifestyle, taking a paternity leave, and being able to adjust my work hours to balance my new family.”

“Relocating to Sault Ste. Marie was an intentional decision, not simply an abstract choice. The opportunity to contribute to Algoma Public Health aligns closely with my professional experience in public policy, translating complex evidence into practical advice for decision-makers. It also reflects a longstanding personal connection and commitment to Northern Ontario, where I have lived and worked in communities across the region. I feel fortunate to work alongside a very talented team at APH and to contribute to an organization that makes a meaningful difference in the communities it serves.”

Julian, Health Policy Advisor

APH is a place I look forward to coming to every day because the nature of the work is adaptable to the needs and priorities of the community. Since my internship to being an employee, I have always felt excited to learn something new every day about our evolving public health system. It is rewarding to learn and make an impact through the work I do.
